Guide Bar and Saw Chain Installation and Removal

1

Release the spark plug cover latch with the T-Wrench.

2

Disconnect the spark plug wire

3

Move the chain brake lever (A) (Front hand guard) fully REARWARD (UNLOCK chain brake) to remove or install the Bar/Clutch Cover (C).

4

Remove Bar/Clutch Cover Nut (B) and remove Bar/Clutch Cover (C).

5

Mount Guide Bar (D) on Guide Bar Stud (E) and slide toward Clutch Drum (F) to make Saw Chain (G) installation easier.

6

Install Saw Chain (G) around Clutch Drum (F) and Guide Bar (D) as shown, with cutters on top of guide bar facing forward.

7

Install Bar/Clutch Cover (C) over Guide Bar Stud (H). Make sure chain tension Adjuster Pin (J) fits into the Guide Bar Adjuster Slot (K), and Brake Band (L) is positioned around Clutch Drum (M). Tighten Bar/ Clutch Cover Nut (B) finger tight.

Note: Align the brake connector of the Bar/Clutch Cover (C) to the groove on the side of the brake lever (Front hand guard).

8

Turn saw over, and check Brake Band (L) for correct position on Clutch Drum (M). If Brake Band is not in place around Clutch Drum, remove Bar/Clutch Cover Nut (B) and Bar/Clutch Cover (C), realign, then reinstall. Tighten Bar/ Clutch Cover Nut finger tight.

9

Adjust Saw Chain (G) tension, as instructed in “Adjusting Chain Tension”.
