Adjusting Chain Tension

Always loosen sprocket guard nuts before turning the chain tension adjuster, otherwise the sprocket guard and tensioner will be damaged.

1

Release cylinder cover latches (A) by inserting screw driver (B) and lifting latch tip as shown. Remove cylinder cover (C).

2

Remove spark plug lead.

3

Unlock chain brake.

4

Loosen sprocket guard nuts (D)

5

Hold bar nose up, and turn adjuster screw (E) clockwise until chain contacts underside of bar.

6

Tighten sprocket guard nuts (D) with bar nose held up.

7

Pull chain around bar by hand. Loosen adjustment if you feel tight spots.

8

Assemble components in reverse order

9

Keep chain properly tensioned at all times.

Note: All chains require frequent adjustments.
