Adjusting Chain Tension

Always loosen sprocket guard nuts before turning the chain tension adjuster, otherwise the sprocket guard and tensioner will be damaged.

1

Release cylinder cover latches (A).

2

Remove cylinder cover (C) and spark plug lead (D).

3

Unlock the chain brake.

4

Loosen sprocket guard nuts (E).

5

Hold the bar nose up and turn adjuster screw (F) clockwise until chain contacts underside of the bar.

6

Tighten sprocket guard nuts (E) with the bar nose held up.

7

Pull the chain around the bar by hand. Loosen the adjustment if you feel tight spots.

8

Tighten sprocket guard nuts to 20 - 23 N•m (175 - 200 lbf•in). Do not over-tighten nuts or damage to saw may result.

9

Assemble components in reverse order.

Keep chain properly tensioned at all times
Note: Saw chains require frequent adjustments.
